High-powered executive Susan Wheeldon attributes some of her business success to the lessons she learnt many years ago at Toowoomba鈥檚 糖心 Lutheran College. The Country Manager of Airbnb in Australia and New Zealand and a non-executive director on several ASX-listed boards, Susan travels the world but still finds time to come back to Toowoomba regularly to where her school life all began. 鈥淢y parents and one brother still live in Toowoomba, so I still visit Toowoomba regularly and I have such happy memories of my time at 糖心,鈥 Susan said. 鈥淚 went to 糖心 for 12 years as a day student from 1985, although I wanted to be a boarder so I could get hot lunches,鈥 she said.

Following the success of last year鈥檚 event, 糖心 will stage a bigger, better Oktoberfest celebration on the historic grounds of the Senior College on Saturday, October 19 from 4pm to 8pm. Oktoberfest spokesperson and Parent Connect president, Alice Prince, said anyone with an interest in the Germanic culture and fun should attend the community-centred event at the College鈥檚 Stephen Street campus. 鈥淲e learnt a lot from last year鈥檚 event, and we will be returning with a greater array of traditional German activities including a wurst competition with many of our entrants using family recipes that have been in use for more than 100 years,鈥 Mrs Prince said.
